The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that the last set of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) payments for this period, reaching up to $3,102, will be disbursed in Hawaii in October.

Hawaii's payment amounts are generally higher compared to the other 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia.

This increased amount is due to the higher inflation rates in Hawaii. Additionally, it's important to note that there has been a recent decrease in the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) in Hawaii. While other states have seen increases in their maximum possible SNAP benefits, recipients in Hawaii will see a decrease.

Distribution Dates:

  • Recipients with last names beginning with A through I will receive their SNAP benefits on November 3rd.
  • Recipients with last names starting with J through Z had their benefits distributed on October 5th.
  • Payments do not all arrive on the same day; for instance, some recipients received their benefits as early as October 3rd.

Eligibility for Maximum Payment:

The maximum payment of $3,102 is reserved for families of eight who qualify. However, if a family has other income or benefits, the actual payment amount could be less.

Compared to the maximum payment in the contiguous states, which is $1,756 for a family of eight, Hawaii’s maximum payment is substantially higher by $1,346.

Here's a quick breakdown of the maximum possible monthly amounts based on family size in Hawaii:

  • 1 person: $517
  • 2 people: $948
  • 3 people: $1,357
  • 4 people: $1,723
  • 5 people: $2,046
  • 6 people: $2,456
  • 7 people: $2,714
  • 8 people: $3,102

For each additional person beyond eight, add $388.

If you are living in Hawaii and part of a larger household, check to see if you qualify for these food stamp benefits, which could provide significant financial assistance.
